Sermon: Joshua’s Call to Consecration Preacher: Pastor Malcolm Macqueen Church: KCC AoG Church, Old Town, Swindon Date: Sunday 16 August 2026 Main Scripture: Joshua 24:14–15
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” These familiar words from Joshua are more than a declaration. They are a call to make a deliberate choice about whom we will serve and how completely we will give ourselves to God.
In Joshua’s Call to Consecration, Pastor Malcolm takes us through three important challenges from Joshua 24: a call to remember, a call to choose and a call to consecration.
Joshua first reminded Israel of everything God had done for them. Looking back over generations, they could see God's hand in their history: He had called Abraham, brought His people out of Egypt, remained with them through the wilderness and brought them into the Promised Land. They hadn't reached that point by their own strength. God had been faithful.
That same principle applies to us. There will be moments we understand and circumstances we don't. Some experiences will feel good, others difficult, but God hasn't abandoned His people. Pastor Malcolm reminds us that we need to remember God's faithfulness rather than allowing present circumstances to make us forget what He has already done.
Then comes the call to choose.
